Nature Spirits Devas
Spirituality Daoism
The traditions of Daoism and
Confucianism have been harmonically blended together in the souls of the Chinese
people. Their reverence for ancestors and striving for harmony with Nature have
been further enhanced by the ethics and ideals of them both. Daoists
(Taoists) focused on intuitive insights into Nature.
According to Chinese traditions all natural occurrences could be categorized as one of
Five Elements and Correspondences. The five parts of the sky (mu, huo, tu, jin,
shui) or water, fire, wood, metal and earth, also corresponded to the main
organs and orifices of the body. These Five Phases or wuxing five goings encompassed
both a sheng generating cycle and a ke overcoming cycle.
For instance, wood generated fire
in the generating cycle; while, metal overcame wood in the overcoming cycle. These five phases or creational and control cycles
