Covering an area of around eighty-four square kilometers, Lake Þingvallavatn, is the largest natural lake in Iceland. Situated at an altitude around 100 metres above sea level, the depths of the lake, which reach to about 114 metres, lie below sea level.

The 1,300 square kilometers Þingvallavatn high precipitation catchment area is interrelated with the surrounding geological landscape. Ninety percent of the inflowing water flows along underground channels to the lake.

Rainfall on the lava takes about two to four months to make its way into the lake. The water flowing southward from the Langjökull Glacier takes twenty to thirty years to pass through the mantle of the earth at a depth of eight kilometers before it reaches Lake Þingvallavatn.

Situated on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge tectonic plate boundaries, Lake Þingvallavatn is a natural wonder and a unique biosystem for showcasing the evolution and formation of a new species... Hierarchs Goddesses Gods of Twelve Universal Rays
