The Sacred Site focal point of Hierarch Durga Anahita and the Tenth Ray of Divine Illumination is the Mehsana (Mahesana) district Modhera Sun Temple and the Thol Wildlife Sanctuary in Gujarat state in India.

Hierarch Durga Anahita shares this Sacred Site focal point with her soulmate husband Hierarch Surya Mithra, also a Hierarch of the Tenth Ray.

More than nine hundred years old, the Modhera Sun Temple was built on the bank of the Pushpavati River about twenty-five kilometers from Mehsana by the Solanki Raja Bhimdev circa 1026 ACE. dedicated to Hindu Sun god, Surya.

During the ancient forest of righteousness Dharmaranya Days mentioned in the Brahma Purana and the Skanda Purana, the environs around Modhera were shown to Lord Rama by the sage Vasistha as a pilgrimage purification place.

Lord Rama settled at a village known as Sitapur which eventually became known as Modhera. The Solankis were Suryavanshis (descendents of Surya, the Sun god. The temple was designed so that the rays of the rising and setting sun at the time of the equinoxes illuminated the image of Surya.

Destroyed by the Mahmud of Ghazni vestiges of the temple remain such as the Guda Mandap (a sanctum sanctorum), Sabha Mandap (a pillared hall for spiritual gatherings), and Surya Kund (an intricately carved stepped ceremonial ablutions pond).

An enormous ornamental Toran arch led to the Sabha Mandap. In Sabha Mandap hall there were fifty-two pillars decorated with carvings from the Hindu Mahabharata and Ramayana epics and  the Krishna Lila. The Sanctum Sanctorum was established on a lotus shaped base.

The bejewelled statute of Surya was pillaged by Mahmud Ghazni. In the arched and pillared hall between Sabha Mandap and Guda Mandap there were twelve recesses illustrating various monthly facets of the solar diety.

One hundred and eight small shrines were carved between the steps of the Surya Kund. Today the Modhera dance festival which showcases classical Hindu dance forms is held against the backdrop of the Modhera Sun Temple during the third week of January.

Thol Wildlife Sanctuary, which is located in the Mehsana district about 40 km from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, in West India. Encompassing about seven square miles in West India, the surrounding area includes a wetlands environment that sustains many different types of wildfowl and wildlife.

Thol Wildlife Sanctuary provides habitat for a diverse array of fauna and flora. Some of the fauna includes black ibises, flamingos, grey pelicans, wetland birds, and wildfowl... Hierarchs Goddesses Gods of Twelve Universal Rays
