Bastet was an Egyptian otherworld shamanic cat goddess who was closely associated with spiritual transitions and journeys, especially those of death and the afterlife. Revered from around 2700 BCE to about 400 ACE, Bastet was portrayed artistically in wall paintings, papyrus illustrations, and sculptures. She was mentioned in coffin texts Also known for her informed knowledge, incisive astuteness, and powerful discrimination, Bastet was one of the few goddesses worshipped throughout all the traditions of ancient Egypt, and prayers to her often brought great blessings. She was usually represented as a woman with a cat's head or as a desert cat to symbolize her shamanic adeptness as a shapeshifter, as well as, a psychopomp traversing the dimensions.
