The weathered limestone Rollright Stones were located on a prehistoric trackway near the village of Chipping Norton about a mile from the town of Long Compton in Oxfordshire, British Isles. In the past, "The King's Men Stone Circle", "The King Stone", and the megalithic tomb known as "The Whispering Knights" were considered "Holy Ground" by the local peoples because of their mysterious purpose and their pagan powers. A sense of mystical magic, of timeless transcendence, and of Wyrd wisdom envelopes this ancient site, lending some credence to the large collection of folklore and legendary tales involving kings, witches, and fairies associated with the stones.
