Background Beliefs Overview Traditions
From the parables of Christ we know that he taught his disciples to be loving, tolerant, kind-hearted and merciful. He taught them not to cast stones at others unless they themselves where free from all blemish and sin.
He taught them to do until others as they would have others do unto them. He taught them to be good Samaritans. He taught them to treat their neighbors they way they would like others to treat them.
He taught them to be compassionate by feeding the hungry and healing the sick. He taught them to have faith in the goodness of the underlying fabric of Creation. He taught them how to cast out demons and how to put Satan behind them. He taught them about angels and how to pray.
When Peter raised his sword to harm another in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus healed the wounded man and admonished Peter telling him that those who live by the sword die by the sword.
Jesus would never have
sanctioned the violence of the Crusades. It was totally contrary to his
teachings of peaceful coexistence and tolerance of diversity.

They spent several years in Egypt before returning to Nazareth after King Herod's death. Not much is known about Jesus from his twelfth year (when he attended the Passover in Jerusalem) until his thirtieth year when he began his three year ministry.
His travels and studies during the eighteen intervening years remained veiled in mystery, some sources suggest that he may have sojourned in Egypt, India, and other lands before returning to Judea.
The baptism of Jesus Christ in the Jordan River by John the Baptist signaled the beginning
of his public ministry. Afterwards he meditated for forty days in the wilderness
then returned to Nazareth before moving on to Capernaum where he selected his
first disciples...
